Itinerary

Day 1:
During the morning: Arrivals to the airport / 12pm: Lunch in San José / 1pm: Go to MANU Center / 3pm: Arrive to MANU / 7pm: Dinner.

Day 2:
7am: Breakfast / 8am: Departure to Braulio Carrillo National Park, one of the largest parks in the country, shared by three provinces; Heredia, Limón y Cartago / 1pm: Lunch / 2:30pm: Hiking in the MANU paths / 6:30pm: Dinner and night free.

Day 3:
7am: Breakfast / 8am: Departure to Cariari to visit an organic farm / 12pm: Lunch in the farm / 1:30pm: Return to MANU / 3pm: Speech about organic production / 6:30pm: Dinner / 7pm: Live music.

Day 4:
7am: Breakfast / 8am: Departure to Caribbean Adventures Farm, each person can choose their tour (rappel, hiking, horse-back ridding) / 12pm: Return to MANU / 1:30pm: Lunch / 3pm: Speech about Costa Rica and some goals in the environmental protection / 7pm: Dinner / 8pm: Group Reflection.

Day 5:
7am: Breakfast / 8am: Volunteer work in the church or some school in Guápiles / 1:30pm: Return to the volunteer work / 5:30pm: Return to MANU / 7pm: Dinner and tropical music (salsa, cumbia, merengue)

Day 6:
7am: Breakfast / 8am: Visit the EARTH to see the recycle project / 12pm: Lunch in the EARTH 1pm: Return to MANU / 3pm: Speech: the group will choose the topic / 7pm: Dinner.

Day 7:
7am: Breakfast / 8am: Departure to Cahuita National Park / Box Lunch / 2pm: Visit the Limón town to buy souvenirs / 4pm: return to Guápiles/ 7pm: Dinner in Guapiles (pizza) / 8pm: Return to MANU.

Day 8:
7am: Breakfast / 8am: Departure to Estacion Biológica La Selva, hiking in the paths / 12pm: Lunch in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí / 2pm: Rafting in Pozo Azul /5:30pm: Return to MANU / 7pm: Dinner.

Day 9:
6:30am: Breakfast / 7:15am: Departure to Talamanca, speech in APPTA organic banana and cocoa plantations / 11:30pm: Lunch in Talamanca /
1pm: Visit the organic cocoa factory / 4pm: return to MANU / 8pm: Dinner.

Day 10:
Breakfast / Transfer to the airport.

What to bring?
  • Field guide and binoculars.

  • Casual clothing for traveling in cities.
  • Shirts, cotton, long and shot sleeved.
  • Trousers, cotton hiking pants or light weight pants.
  • Hiking shorts.
  • Footwear, tennis or running shoes, waterproof light weight.
  • Hiking boots, thongs or sandals.
  • Socks, bring extra in case feet get wet.
  • Poncho, raincoat or umbrella.
  • Hat with visor for rain and sun protection.
  • Plastic water bottle.
  • Flashlight with spare batteries and bulb.
  • Camera.
  • Extra prescription glasses and medication (if applicable).
  • Small backpackfor hikes.
  • Sweater or jacket.
  • Plastic garbage bags for wet items.
  • Bandanas.
